QualaTea Week 11: Final Presentation

Image
We presented our final pitch at 1.30 on Wednesday. It went very well and our responses were very positive. We brought our final concept design of the Chai Chocolate complete with the laser cut mould and the new WCF stylised packaging. Unfortunately Nela wasn't there but we hope she receives evidence of the work and effort we put into the project and that she seizes this good opportunity to improve her brand and reach a larger audience by using Chocolate as an introduction to the taste of Chai for newcomers. Our final presentation slides are below:

After getting back the results from Freedom and Danni's interview with the Wellington Chocolate factory; we had to make some dramatic changes to the design. Given the Chocolate factory was strict about their style we designed a new version of the packaging which incorporated good elements of Nela's colour/design the best we could into the WCF typical chocolate packaging template: As well as the design; if we wanted to Nela to collaborate with the chocolate factory we had to consider changing the design as well. The existing WCF design was very simplistic and not ideal compared to our existing design/mould for the chai chocolate but a sacrifice we'd have to make for future reference.

QualaTea Weeks 9/10: Inquiring about collaboration with Wellington Chocolate Factory

During weeks 9 and 10, Freedom and Danni contacted the Wellington Chocolate factory to schedule a time to talk to them about the collaboration idea/opportunity. They brought with them the wooden cut out, the plastic moulds, packaging and chocolate itself. WCF were very on board with our suggestion of collaboration with Nela's Chai but had the following to say in terms of constrictions: -  The design would have to be modified to match their strict style -  Nelas dry tea leaves would need to be used rather than liquid chai -  They needed to know more about Nelas practices and origins of her tea - - During the next week we would have to change some things in order to make it clear to Nela during our final pitch her next steps in working successfully with Wellington Chocolate Factory. This was their final email sent to Freedom as proof of their interest:

QualaTea Weeks 9/10: Development of the Chocolate Concept

Image
As a group and based on Nela's feedback from our first initial presentation; we had decided to focus out time and energy on developing the Chai Chocolate to such a point where it was ready for Nela to actually take to the next level herself. During this development process, the Chai Chocolate mould and design went through some modifications and changes to make it look as professional as possible for the final presentation. What we were left with by the end was a modified chocolate block, design and mould. We also refined the recipe of the chocolate. During our week 7 pitch, the chai chocolate had a soft texture like fudge. The new recipe focused more closely on the mixtures of ingredients to create a more smooth, refined texture and and sweeter taste. Before: After: This softer more delicate texture fitted significantly better into the mould and was easy to get back out after hardening within the mould:
