Quala-Tea Week 7: The Presentation

During the break we met a few times to put together and practice our presentation.

In week 7 we presented our ideas to Nela:

The presentation went well.
We talked about our focus on expanding her brand through the Iced Chai and expanding/collaboration with the Chai Chocolate.
We brought up statistics and information to prove to her as well that the target audiences of children and young families would work well to introduce a larger number of people to the taste of Chai as it's much more inviting than Chai itself. This was good as it was exactly what Nela wanted to do with her product; apply it to families and make Nela's Chai a family friendly product.
We then finished the presentation by showing her our proof of concepts with the models and the actual Chai Chocolate/Iced Chai for Nela/out tutors own personal taste tests.


What we had also prepared was some actual taste testers using Jakes moulds combined with our previously designed packaging for the Iced Chai and the Chai Chocolate. 

Nela was very positive and open towards our ideas, the taste test and concepts helped very much as well to have something physical to see/touch to be convinced what we were pitching to her could actually be done.

After getting back the results from Freedom and Danni's interview with the Wellington Chocolate factory; we had to make some dramatic changes to the design. Given the Chocolate factory was strict about their style we designed a new version of the packaging which incorporated good elements of Nela's colour/design the best we could into the WCF typical chocolate packaging template: As well as the design; if we wanted to Nela to collaborate with the chocolate factory we had to consider changing the design as well. The existing WCF design was very simplistic and not ideal compared to our existing design/mould for the chai chocolate but a sacrifice we'd have to make for future reference.

Quala-Tea Week 8: Feedback on our Presentation and next steps

Our feedback from our tutors and Nela about of presentation consisted of: - Positive feedback towards our idea and Nela was very open to our approach - she even suggested working closely with us for the recipes during our process up until the final presentation in week 11. - Nela didn't necessarily want to work on the Iced Chai as much as the chocolate just given more complications with production. During this weeks session we also brainstormed what there was to do next based on our feedback: What’s next? - Contact Companies to collaborate with, smaller independent businesses within wellington or larger scale companies in order to make it more of a NZ specific brand. - Sort out the recipes/recipes. We used almond milk, can we use cow's milk/soy milk etc - What other alternatives can we approach within the specifics of Iced Chai and Chocolate. - Make more of a case for bi-local and hipster sides of consumers. Quala-Tea Week 5/6/Break: Concepts

We were told in our week four presentation that we needed more visuals to support our ideas. So while we waited for any possible collaborators we were contacting to get back to us; we made some concept designs for the Iced Chai and Chai chocolate. This fed into the break as well: The following concepts were designed: A label design for 'Nela's Iced Chai': The design followed the style of and colour she already used. This was due to our previous observation of her products already standing out on shelves because of the existing style and colour. A label design development by Freedom for the Chai tea with ingredients included, was used for presentation.
